Q. How is the CTCPA funded?
A. The CTCPA is funded through annual membership fees collected from our member associations. In addition, our member associations collect a $1.25 levy per rider for each entry at all locally sanctioned shows.
Q. What are the membership fees used for?
A. As outlined in the budget and financial statements, membership fees are used to cover expenses such as judges' clinics, rule books, ratings, the website, meeting costs, and other related items. In 2001, it was determined that membership fees alone did not generate enough revenue to cover the CTCPA's operational costs. At that time, the Board of Directors agreed to implement a levy fee per rider for each entry at locally sanctioned shows to help offset these expenses. No levy money is ever used for the National Finals Show.
Q. Why should my local association sanction all its shows?
A. Sanctioning all local events helps create a fair and consistent experience for all riders across Canada. By ensuring that all shows are sanctioned, we maintain equal opportunities for members to participate and contribute to the sport. Since levy fees support the overall needs of the CTCPA, it is important that all members contribute fairly. A standardized approach to sanctioning helps sustain our programs, events, and resources, benefiting riders at every level. After careful consideration, we believe that a balanced revenue model—funded through both membership fees and a per-entry levy—is the most equitable way to support our community.

Q. How are the Directors compensated?

Q. What is the CTCPA Judges/Ratings Technical Coordinator?
A.
Q. When will the National Finals increase its payouts?
A. Each year, as part of the National Finals planning and budgeting process, we strive to break even. After all revenues are collected and all expenses are accounted for, payouts and prizes are calculated to use the remaining revenue. Our goal has always been to build a reserve fund within the National Finals account to cover fixed costs. Before receiving any entry fees, we are financially committed to over $20,000 for facility deposits, buckles, saddles, and other necessary items. Now that we have established this fund, we will maintain it at its current level and adjust payouts accordingly. However, sponsorship funds fluctuate yearly, and if we lose sponsorship, our National Finals fund may be depleted.
